Please note, we are not shipping fish until cooler weather, and this page may not be updated. Fish are available for local pick-up in the Metro DC area only. Please contact us for availability. Currently, carriers are unreliable with delivery windows, and it is simply too hot for live fish to spend an extra day in transit. |

Common Name | Scientific Name | Price
Cichlids | |||
Asst. Pike Cichlid | Crenicichla sp. | $6.99
These are some of the smallest pikes we've ever received, at just over an inch long. We can't guess on species, though they were expected to be C. johanna.
Characins | |||
Penguin tetra | Thayeria boehlkei | $4.99 12 for $50 |
|
These are not the penguin tetras you'll pick up from your local fish store. These are wild caught, not farm bred, and big, beefy penguins. Utterly gorgeous -- hopefully we'll have a pic of them up soon.
Spotted Splashing Tetra | Copeina cf. guttata | $5.99, 6 for $30
These are a beautiful little fish that could easily be mistaken for a killifish at a glance. The males have glowing yellow fins, and a beautiful pattern of red and black dots over the body, though females and subdominant males are significnatly less colourful. While they're often called a "splashing" tetra, unlike the true splashing tetra (Copella arnoldi), these fish won't jump out of the tank to spawn: instead, they spawn similarly to many cichlids. Full disclosure, we're not 100% sure on our species identification here, but Copeina guttata is our best guess.
Amazon Glass Tetra | Protocheirodon pi) | $6.99, 6 for $30
What is it about clear fish? Whether it's the true glass fish like Parambassis ranga, or the ghost catfish (Kryptopterus), there's just something intriguing and appealing about these see-through fishes. The South American tetra Protocheirodon pi and several of its relatives are newly imported. Often referred to as Amazon Crystal Tetras or Amazon Vidrio tetra, these are beautiful, small tetras. They make a great addition to a planted tank.
Orange Fin Tetra | Unknown | $9.99, 6 for $45
We received a shipment containing a number of unidentified tetras, and these "Orange Fin" tetras were among them. We don't know much about them, but we do sincerely hope they colour up once they've settled in.
Catfish | |||
Loretto Cat | Corydoras loretoensis | $9.99
Few These beautiful, small catfish are a lightly spotted species of Corydoras. |
|||
Long Fin Salt and Pepper Cory | Corydoras paleatus "Longfin" | $8.99, 6 for $45
The salt and pepper cory cat, Corydoras paleatus is a favourite among aquarists, and with good reason. Hardy, easy to keep, easy to breed, and beautiful, there isn't much to be improved upon, but these gorgeous long finned varieties manage!
Other Fish | |||
Dragon Knifefish | Sternarchogiton cf. preto | $299
We aren't 100% sure on this species identification, but this is the best guess. A neat little knifefish, it vaguely resembles a standard black ghost, with a very differently shaped face and less white. It has much more attitude than the relatively shy black ghost, and will quickly come out of hiding for feeding, and has demolished even crayfish as food.
